CFOs on the Move: Week Ending March 12

Dow Chemical, Providence Equity Partners, DF King Worldwide, Human Genome Sciences, CB Richard Ellis Group, Active Network, Healthcare Solutions, BigBand Networks, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, DaVita.

The Dow Chemical Co. has tapped William Weideman for the top finance spot. Weideman, who has been interim CFO since November, has spent more than 30 years at the company, most recently as corporate controller. He replaces Geoffery Merszei, who is now chairman of Dow Europe and president of Dow Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Robert Hull will take over as CFO of Providence Equity Partners in early April, succeeding Raymond Mathieu, who will become a managing director. Most recently, Hull was CFO of GMAC.

DF King Worldwide, a financial communications and stakeholder-management firm, has named Mark Wilson to the newly created position of global CFO. He is a former CFO of Towers Perrin.

David Southwell will be the new finance chief at Human Genome Sciences Inc., effective March 22. Southwell, who has been a member of the board of directors since July 2008, is resigning that position to take on his new job. Before joining the board, Southwell was CFO of Sepracor Inc.

CB Richard Ellis Group has promoted Gil Borok to the top finance spot. He succeeds Bob Sulentic, who will remain in his post as president of the company. Borok had been chief accounting officer and CFO of the real-estate services firm’s Americas operations.

Technology and media firm The Active Network Inc. has named Scott Mendel to head finance. He comes to the company after more than 20 years at General Electric, where he most recently served as CFO of its Healthcare IT division.

Healthcare Solutions Inc. has appointed Thomas Oram CFO. Previously, he led the finance function at LogistiCare Inc.

Ravi Narula has been promoted to CFO at BigBand Networks Inc., effective May 1. He replaces Moe Castonguay, who is moving to the East Coast from the company’s headquarters in California. Narula joined the digital video networking company in 2005 and is now worldwide controller and vice president of finance.

Strategic Hotels & Resorts Inc. has named Diane Morefield finance chief; she will take over her new role on April 12. She succeeds James Mead, who has left the company. Most recently, Morefield was CFO of Equity International.

Kidney-care services provider DaVita Inc. has appointed Luis Borgen CFO, effective March 29. Previously, he was senior vice president, finance, of the U.S. retail division of Staples.
